Range Hood Charcoal

If you have a
recirculating or ventless kitchen range hood, you need to
periodically replace the
range hood charcoal
filter. The charcoal
within the filter absorbs bad odor from cooking. If it is
not replaced at every six months, the charcoal can no longer
absorb these odors which causes the kitchen as well as the rest
of the home to smell.
You may have even started
to notice that each time you walk into your home or kitchen
that there is an unpleasant smell. If you have established that
it is not the garbage bin, then you need to look at the kitchen
range hood filters.
Recirculating hoods have
two filters. The first you know by now is the charcoal filter,
and the second is an aluminum filter that helps to trap food
particles and grease when cooking. The charcoal filters need to
be discarded and replaced, but the aluminum filters can be
cleaned.
In order to gain access
to the range hood charcoal filter, you need to first remove the
metal grease filter. Some range hoods have a clip that
attached the charcoal directly onto the metal mess filter and
you need to simply remove the clips which should allow the
filter to be removed and replaced.
This is an opportunity to
clean the grease filter in some soapy water. Certain
manufacturers now allow the grease mesh to also be
cleaned in the dishwasher, it is best to check your manual
rather than guessing though.
When attaching the
filters back to the hood, it is a simple task of working the
steps listed above backups. Keeping the kitchen range hood and
its filters clean is important in order to have a clean and
hygienic kitchen. You will also notice that the house will
smell better and you will have less grease left behind on the
kitchen counters and household furniture.
Remember, that the first
indication of bad smells is to replace the range hood
charcoal filter.
